This is the first of a series I will be doing this summer. Taking small pieces of wood which I have been collecting and making heads, which my friends and I will stuff with stuff and sell as Spirit Dolls.

This one in particular was given to my niece, whose birthday was last Tuesday, but that morning @ 3am her boyfriend was violently murdered. Jon was a great guy and this was a horrible and needless loss. I am still off my game, so sorry for my recent posts. I thought my niece needed some sunshine, so I carved her as the sun.

The felt I made myself from wool from my parents Llamas, and the herbs are traditional for peace, love and healing. Yes I do felting along with a hundred other crafts.

That, is purely heart and soul. What a great job of conceiving and carving the sun. Outstanding, really! The back of the sun looks like a tree to me.

I am saddened to hear of the tragedy… but this Spirit Doll your niece will treasure her entire life. Out of chaos comes order… out of the fire comes the Phoenix….

-- I just got done cutting three boards and all four of them were too short. (true story)

Wonderful concept and carving.

So sorry to hear about the loss you and your family suffered. Your ‘sunshine’ and the love in it should help start the healing.

Good works always come back to haunt you…nicely. I hope these lcreaturesl, craftings, haunt you well into the future of your life. You can never have too much caring and concern for the feelings of your near and dear, and it doesn’t diminish by being used.

Your skill is evident. Your feelings are on your sleeve…congratulations!... you are part way there.

Stephen

Very impresive piece, and you can tell it comes from your heart. Sorry for your loss.

I think I was asleep when I wrote my first response to this.
So very sorry to hear of your loss.
The sunshine is just that, which is light at the end of the tunnel
GOD BLESS you and your family
