I made this from some scrap pieces of walnut (base) and magnolia (uprights). I used this particular piece of walnut since it had the bark inclusion and the saw marks from the mill. Used four light coats of spray lacquer (satin) for the finish.

The walnut came from my cousin’s yard 20+ years ago (I’m pretty sure it’s dry now. ha) The magnolia used to be a tree in front of my former office building…victim of a road project. At least the guys from Asplundh didn’t have to feed that one into the chipper. :)
