For several months I have been working on some new designs based on Andy’s palm boxes. It’s been a blast coming up with the designs, although all of them are at least based on ideas I have seen here. I learned a long time ago there is seldom a totally new idea in woodworking, just our own combination of what we have seen over the years.

I now have some on consignment at some high end gift shops here in town.

The first box is Figured Maple, and of course, Bubinga. Some of you are disappointed if I don’t use it. With bronze bushings with bubinga plugs.

#2 is Mequite top with crushed torquoise inlay. Box is Zebrawood #3 is Mahogany and Figured Maple #4 is Walnut with a little Maple accent

Beautiful boxes! What do you do to the insides? dividers? flocking?

Kent some beautiful renditions of an Andy Box.

They look great.

Kent,

As usual, you’ve done a stella job on the boxes…...What is a palm box? Not sure I’ve ever heard of it before. I’ve never tried to make a box…..I think I’ll leave that up to the great box-making artisians like yourself.

Hope you get a lot of calls for them at the local shops around town….you’ve just to have the right person to walk in, see your work, and take it home….Keep the projects coming…..Thanks for posting….. Rick.

Kent, these are really great. I haven’t made a box in a while, and some of you guys are leaving me in the dust!

Beautiful design and construction.

Lots of artistic flair on these boxes Kent! They look great!

Rick, here is a link to Andy’s first post of a palm box. And here is a link to a tutorial on how to make them.
