I felt I needed to post some piece that weren’t screwed together. This art deco jewelry box had a lot of little details, but I thought it finished out very well.

This is a classic, elegant design – and lovely wood.

Now that’s the kind of jewelry box my wife wants me to build. I’ve been putting it off, because she’ll expect me to fill it up before giving it to her :-). What is the darker wood?

Andy, I feel your concern. The black would is actually painted maple. It looks good, is holding up well, and certainly is more cost effective.

You know gentlemen, you could make the wife wooden jewelry…

Is this one in your book as well?

MrsN, good idea. No, actually the newer images are from former magazine articles (so the plans are out there somewhere), I just felt I needed to flesh out my “gallery”.

Wooden jewelry? That wouldn’t do it for my wife. I can just see it now. “Here you are darling, I made this for you out some shop scraps”. She’d just tell me to shove it where the sun don’t shine. :-)

Very true, but there are some people who like wooden jewelry. I make and wear it all the time, there are students not currently in my classes who make a trip to the shop once a day to check out the latest.

Very nice! I like the styling. I can’t quite make it out, but it looks like there is some kind of trim along the top of the drawer fronts – aluminum??

Steve, just the spacing between the drawers, but a good idea!

Thanks for the reply David. You’re right, aluminum trim might be interesting. Might make it harder to get away with wood jewelry!
