Hello everyone, this is my first attempt at sculpturing a Andy inspired box. Will have to revisited this again learn a few lesson, one being to do this outside and not in the shop. Just a tad bit of a dust storm but never the less fun playing with the grinder. The overall appearance look more stone like than the cool slops of Andy’s works. It a first go at this style and I’m sorta please enough to give it a go again in the future. I used B.E. Maple top with a rabbet fitting lid, the lower box made with Walnut and B.E.Maple and Rosewood splines. Danish oil and shellac with a Myland wax finish, thanks for viewing…BC

Nice box for your first try. I am working on one from the same inspiration. Your sculpting looks good to me, which is the part I am up to now. Not real sure how to aproach the sculpting, but am going to try it tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.

Good for you. I would never even attempt it.

You are just a woodworking machine. I love it.

I have yet to make one of these… just waiting until every one else has made one…
If mine turns out that good first try I will be happy…
Love the BE too btw.

Andy thanks for the kind comments, its a bit of a challenge but progress was made looking forward to more attempts….

pickpapa start on a scrap piece just to get the hang of making curves with the grinder. It fun and goes fast so enjoy.

spunwood, Roger, and cwdance thanks for viewing and commenting.

Spalm so much inspiration here and this one really drew me in, its almost hypnotic. My shop is my vise so my wife doesn’t mind as long as she get first picks unless my daughter see it first…lol thanks for viewing
