The box if for the remains of my friend’s dog that passed. The plans are from Woodcraft (I think), and are for a music box. I just omitted that part, so it would be large enough. First attempt using the bandsaw to make a box.
It is mahogany with a maple strip. The finish is boiled linseed and wax. Next time, I would use the hinge suggested (instead of what I had) as it looks awkward. Fun project and I learned a lot (more bandsaw practice). Thanks for looking!

Nice job from a fellow Virginian (transplanted). I like how you used the strip of maple down the body of the box to fill the saw kerf! Good idea. I just got a new bandsaw and I’m already to work on this plan’s outline, although I decided to forgo the inlay strips and the divider…I’m gonna attempt a basswood top with a carving on it. Nikki, this is a beautiful box and I know that your friend must have been thrilled when he or she received it. Most people want a special container to store those ashes in and you have made one.
