The box if for the remains of my friend’s dog that passed. The plans are from Woodcraft (I think), and are for a music box. I just omitted that part, so it would be large enough. First attempt using the bandsaw to make a box.
It is mahogany with a maple strip. The finish is boiled linseed and wax. Next time, I would use the hinge suggested (instead of what I had) as it looks awkward. Fun project and I learned a lot (more bandsaw practice). Thanks for looking!

Very nice, it amazes me the variety of band saw boxes that can be made, beautiful wood and good construction make this another great example, thanks for sharing

Nice job from a fellow Virginian (transplanted). I like how you used the strip of maple down the body of the box to fill the saw kerf! Good idea. I just got a new bandsaw and I’m already to work on this plan’s outline, although I decided to forgo the inlay strips and the divider…I’m gonna attempt a basswood top with a carving on it. Nikki, this is a beautiful box and I know that your friend must have been thrilled when he or she received it. Most people want a special container to store those ashes in and you have made one.
