This is a wall hanging ( not a cutting board ) inspired jointly by a picture of volcanic activity on Kilauea, Hawaii and partly by a music track by Genesis. It was made using the router jig , recently posted, on a router table.
Dimensions: Approx’ 220mm square x 7mm thick.
Materials: Ebony, Purpleheart, Padauk, English Yew and Pau Amarello (Yellowheart)
Glue: PVA
Finish: Organoil Wax over Liberon Sanding Sealer
Pic. 1. Volcano
Pic. 2. Edge shot showing its a solid pattern, not veneered
Pic. 3. In it’s position on the Stairway to Devon, between Impossibles 1 and 2
Pic. 4. The picture that inspired it.

Great design, Martyn! Absolutely beautiful. Looks a bit like one of those ancient Hawaiian royalty robes. What’s this with “English” Yew!! Where’s the Hawaiian koa or mango!! :-)

Bob, neither Koa or Mango are easily available in the UK. Besides in the interests of whatever I wanted to put something English in it.

Great use of the grain AND the colors. A visually striking piece. I was unfamiliar with that particular Genesis song. Your Stairway to Devon is looking like an art gallery. I vote the calendar out. Once again, awesome work.
-- I just got done cutting three boards and all four of them were too short. (true story)
