Cherry slat rocker.. The designer of this rocker is” Del Cover”..

I had tons of fun building this cherry slat rocker. Not as easy as it looks, takes sometime to cut the slates and
time to cut the mortise and tenon joints.. I emailed Del a few times to get permitted to build his rockers and after the 3rd rocker he gave me the go ahead … I am now on my fourth rocker and it should be the best yet..
It took me sometime to get the organic feel for the chair.. If you decide to build this char get ready to get a good forearm work out.. Just the 4 quarter cherry I started with was big and heavy..
This picture was my second rocker…
Hope you all like it.

I like it a lot. You say it’s not as easy as it looks, and to me it looks very difficult, which must mean it’s virtually impossible, at least at my skill level. Congrats.

That looks really comfortable. You did a great job.

A beautiful and comfortable looking rocker. I have an idea how hard it is to make chairs properly, so I can well appreciate the effort and skill that went into this one.

Very nice. I have a couple photos of a Walnut rocker of the same style by Del Cover in my Project Ideas folder. I would like to start a chair this fall that will be Cover/Maloof inspired. How does it sit? It looks pretty comfortable but I’ve sat in chairs where looks were very deceiving.
