Project Information

This is my kitchen dinning room canoe light I built.. the canoe is 8 feet long and 17" wide. Covered in canvas then filled with special canvas filler and then red paint.. The inside has many coats of varnish and rubbed out for a nice smooth feel. The two seats in the canoe are hand caned. all the inside work that you can't see was built with cherry lumber..

Two years ago I purchased a 15 ft. American Trader cedar strip canoe in Mackinaw City. Their response was "What! Are you actually going to put this canoe in the water? Apparently a great many of these canoes are used strictly for decorative purposes.

It paddles like a dream, also a good solo canoe. I'd love to build one someday.
