I made this from a magazine plan. Nearly everything is 3/8” thick cherry. Dimensions are 8” deep, 13 1/2” tall, 14” long overall. I got the wood for a great price from a man who had milled a tree twenty years ago from his yard and never got around to using. Fitting all the drawers was a finicky operation. I wish my gaps on the upper drawers were a bit smaller but it’s not terribly noticable. I think it’s almost as much work to build the small stuff as the big stuff. Most of the construction is dado’s. I lined the drawers with blue felt. If anyone knows a source for a good selection of jewerly box knobs let me know because I waited over 2 months to get these and the quality is terrible. Finish is Boiled linseed oil, then brushed on laquer.

Very nice and elegant.

Came out great.

Agree, small pieces are more difficult than big stuff.

Nice work. From the photos, the knobs look just fine – - – kinda Gestner(sp?) look.
Questions: 1) do you need to use a sealer coat after the BLO and before the laquer, and
2) how long do you have to wait for the BLO to sufficiently dry? I really like the finishing.

Beautiful job. As for knobs, I like the selection at Lee Valley. They carry an amazing variety of hardware and the quality always seems good to me.

Nice jewelry chest! Brusso makes the best small brass fittings like knobs and such. Woodcraft sells them.
