Many years ago I made a sliding height gage ,with a 6 in steel ruler attached,a hairline indicator,
and magnets set in the bottom.And a thumb screw to lock it in position.
It served me well until last year, when I just had to have a digital height gage
One ,was made with a dowel with a a flat on one side
You have probably heard the phrase,-Your Not Getting Older You Are Getting Better.
Well !! The old eye balls are not getting better, “Hence” the Digital Height Gage

!

Great design. I need a depth gauge and I think this is the inspiration and info I need to make one. I’ve been trying to figure out how to incorporate a brass ruler I salvaged from my old router table when I built a new one and looks like you’ve solved that question very well.
