I received a call from a friend who just had a new stair lift installed. His feet were hitting the balusters on the opposite side when the chair reached the top and made the turn at the top. He wanted to cut off 3 balusters and move the newel post. Before and after photos.

I noticed that you are from Garland. My neighbor has a place on a lake in Sanbornvillle near Dexter. Do you have any good hardwood lumber sources nearby? The man who lives in the next house on the lake is also a woodworker. He has his shop in a hanger at the airport which I believe is in Dexter where he has he main residence. As they say, small world.

@ John—- That is very cool, yes it is a small world when you start to look around. It’s great to know of other woodworkers in the area, I am not familiar with this gentleman at the airport, my have to take a ride over there and check it out. Yes, there is hard wood in this area, I got a pretty good deal on a load of rock maple, that I am using to make boxes, piano benches, and bed frames, always keeping an eye out for lumber deals, we have the “Uncle Henry’s” swap or sell it guide, which has lumber deals from time to time, and also there are several local lumber mills that have some hard woods for sale, thanks for Your interest and noticing Garland, ME

The man from Dexter is probably no longer doing WW as he has terminal cancer. He is a retired teacher. Oh I have another friend who lives in Frankfort Me. and teaches in some town on the coast nearby.
