Just a couple of cutting boards that I made for family this winter. Used the Wood Whisper plans and videos and adjusted the number of pieces to make the various sizes. The 6 half-size “LVDT” are made with hard maple, walnut, and hard maple, cherry. The two full-size boards are made of purpleheart, padauk, and hard maple. For such a simple project, it does take a while to get everything cut, glued, re-cut, and glued again. Each was finished with 4 coats of Watco Butcher Block Oil & Finish light sanding in between coats.

Great looking boards! I especially love the one in the fourth picture on top, I believe that is the Padauk one, the red just stands out so nicely.

Great Job!

Here’s a secret…...learned the hard way…......before you oil them, take them in and wet them down, wipe them off, and let them dry overnight. Then you will need to lightly hand sand them again before you oil them. It raises the fibers.

They are great!

Thanks for the board, the other ones look great!

Now I don’t have to build one for myself, but I might just so I can be in the club.

Nice! Is it ok to level endgrain cuttingboards with a planer?
