Finally finished my maiden carving project. A Celtic cross with an additional sprinkling of an Irish clover. This was the brain child of the proud new aunt as a gift to her much loved niece “baby G.” This aunt is a close friend of many years who lives in the Lone Star State along with much of her immediate family. My understanding is the mother and father are not only a wonderful pair together but are of Dego-Mick descent (I’m Irish and and a little Italian, so no worries). This project took a while simply because there was a learning curve to go up being the first carving. Simply traced the image of the Shamrock-Cross to a piece of basswood, stop-cuts galore followed with shaving and gouging out the wood. I was given an antique set of small wood carving chisels/carving tools for a gift not too long ago from a buddy that really helped facilitate me getting in woodworking. Thanks Zach! I plan on implementing some carvings into future works and see where it goes. Carving with a beer and movie going ain’t a bad set up. “Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen sondern, uebung macht den Meister!”

Great work. I like it. The fact that you carved it is even better.

Just discovered this looking at your current posts—really like it! Simple, but very elegant!
