This is the eighth lamp that I have made and I wanted this one to be whimsical. It started with an old, split, piece of pine firewood that had interesting texture under the loose bark created by beetles. Next I built a humorous, near impossible, access to the top with ladders and platforms. On top is a timber framed house with siding made from small strips of barn wood, windows of translucent white acrylic with colored trim, and sheet metal painted to look like rusty corrugated roof panels. After finishing and turning the lamp on, it was missing one thing – occupants, so I cut sheet metal for eight little people and installed them inside to create the shadows in the windows. 27” tall.

Very whimsical. I like it. You could start a whole village of these.

How big a bulb would it take to move enough air to spin slowly a little fan that was attached to a little disk that had the little people attached….so they’d move from window to window?
This is a great piece, Terry. Pay no attention to me. Just keep buildin’.
Kindly,
Lee
