Simple? They are very nice and well built.
I noticed the end grain ends are much darker that the field and edges. I suggest you sand the end grain further more with at least two steps of finer grit sandpaper so they won’t be darker than the faces and the edges. Doing so the end grain won’t absord as much stain.

You need to do that extra sanding before any stain is applied : )
