Time out bench that I made for my niece for her 2nd birthday. When I started making this out of some pine I had laying around, I soon noticed that I was not going to have enough to finish it. So, being cheap as I am, I glued up two 2×4s for the back rest and I used another 2×4 for the bottom support:

I also used poplar for the seat part, since I had a lot of thin strips of it laying around, I didn’t even need to rip them to width. I used goden oak stain and my favorite polyurethane for the finish:

All the words on the bench are woodburned. I got the plans here, if anyone wants them.

When I was little, my Mom had a wooden device that she used in place of a time out bench. It did, however, make contact with my butt- albeit for very short periods of time- rapidly and repeatedly.
Nice project, Kyle!

LOL SHe looks pretty happy for a kid being in “time out”. My kid is usually crying at that point.

Real nice bench but should be big enough for adults as they’re the ones needing the time out.
