This evening my son, who is a Sophomore in College, has a recital together with another flute player. In the past, my wife and I have seen parents give a bouquet of flowers to the students after the recital, but knowing our son, flowers would simply end up in the trash as soon as he gets to his dorm room. So my wife came up with the idea of us giving him a bouquet of musical notes.
The notes are poplar – stained to a different color, and the “vase” is just some scrap wood with oak strips painted to look like music lines. I first thought the idea was ridiculous and that the finished project wouldn’t look right, but in the end I was wrong.
Now the only problem is that she likes them so much she wants more of them to give to our son’s friends at their recitals. The other thought I have is what will she have me make for his Junior recital?
Now I have to get there to give it to him!
