cutting board

Some more cutting boards. I make my board three ply and sometimes five ply but always there is a hard maple on the back for cutting purposes. The faces are meant for display.I have a habit of waking up about 2 AM and do some free thinking. Years ago I was free thinking on a problem and came up with a wonderful practical and diplomatic solution to a problem. I went happily back to sleep and in the morning the solution had vanished. Since then I keep a pencil and paper next to the bed and write down the pattern or idea so my rusty old mind can reconnect. In the second and fourth picture I will have to admit I made a wrong cut and what you see is a salvage job. What else you see is some free thinking except for that darn mistake.

Nice boards. Great patterns.

Were you by any chance a rug maker in Baghdad in a previous life? Those have a definite Persian look to them.

Your mistakes are better than my finished products. Do you make you boards in plys for strength, or is
it just because of your former job? Thank you for sharing.

Really cool design. Curious… are the pastel colors achieved by dye on light woods?
