I built these three Slant Front Desks for my Grand kids
Something they could remember me by
My wife suggested Rocking horses, but as slow as I work
they out grew the rocking horses before I got started
They are built out of red Oak and finished with clear Poly
I had no plans, I built one a few years ago using some pictures
that I found on the internet. So the second three where not as hard
I had to design and build my own hinges, because I could
not find any that would be long enough or strong enough
to hold the front door, especially when it is opened and used
for writing.
The hinges where built out of 1/2×1/8 brass.
It was a fun and interesting project
Note the crude setup that I had to make in order
to move them around my small shop.during construction

Wow. Is that a single wide board for the front?
Woodwork and some metal work, now that’s a project. Good job.

Those are really nice. I’ll bet they become family heirlooms, passed down for generations.
