Maple bowl from my new Jet lathe

My mother was in town for a few days and at the same time I had my new Jet lathe delivered. Although not very friendly, I ended up bugging out for two hours to turn my mother a bowl using my new lathe.

It’s a figured maple blank I bought at Rockler in Arizona. I have a stash of these blanks and when finished with oil, they could be mistaken for cherry!

Hope you enjoy!

It would be a shame to put anything in it and cover up that beautiful grain pattern. Very nice!

Maple is such a pretty wood! I like the shape of the bowl, it’’s unique and shows the grain well

It’s a beautiful bowl. I hope your mother is very happy with her gift. I like the shape very much particularly the undercut sides.
