THIS IS MY GRANDDAUGHTER’S STABLE OF HORSES.

THE FIRST ONE IS FROM A PATTERN THAT MY DAD GOT FROM POPULAR MECHANIX IN THE LATE 1940’S.
HE MADE THE HORSE FOR MY OLDER SISTERS FOR CHRISTMAS 1951.
I GRABBED IT AND BROUGHT IT HOME WHEN I KNEW WE HAD A GRANDCHILD ON THE WAY.
WE CLEANED IT AND PUT ON A FRESH COAT OF OLD FASHIONED VARNISH AND NEW PAINT.

THE BROWN AND PINK HORSE WAS MY FIRST PROJECT-BESIDES THE SCHOOL SHOP PROJECTS.
I MADE IT FOR MY DAUGHTER’S SECOND CHRISTMAS IN 1983.
MY TOOL COLLECTION THEN WAS A COPING SAW, A FOUR IN ONE RASP AND A TIRED, OLD WORN OUT SKIL BELTSANDER CALLED A SAND CAT.
THE WOOD WAS FROM A PALLET.

THE FURRY HORSE IS A 2007 MODEL THAT I (SORRY) BOUGHT FOR THE GRAND DAUGHTER, IT IS CALLED A BUTTERSCOTCH PONY. IT WHINNIES, MOVES IT’S HEAD AND TAIL, EARS BLINKS ITS EYES ECT ECT ECT. LOTS OF FUN TO WATCH IT IN ACTION!

BUT, EVEN THOUGH THE NEW PONY IS FULL OF HIGH TECH MAGIC, THE LITTLE ONE STILL PREFERS THE OLD STEAM POWERED HORSES!!!

Great horses! I am going to have to make one for my daughter when she is old enough.

That’s a nice project and gift. Those look fun!

Careful, when the neighbors get the word that you are making rocking horses you’ll be filling the pasture. People love those things and pass them down for one child to another. I’m told wooden rocking horses are not available in stores.

aww they are all so cute – especially that 2-legged sweetheart :)

1940 pattern makes the wooden ones even more special.

Looks like one happy customer. You did a beautiful job on the older horse. When my Mom passed away, we found my old rocking horse in the attic. Gave it to my daughter for her kids. They are nice pieces to pass on. Thanks for posting.

God Bless

These are wonderful projects. And it looks like you have one satisfied customer there as well. She is a doll!!! (and I see she enjoys being in front of the carmera). Now you need to build her a stable to house her herd of horses.

Thanks for the post.
