The wife pestered and won…but overall not a bad idea. Wenge, bird’s eye maple and left over walnut from what, I have no idea. It fits well but don’t be jumping on the coach.

Roz—I am not sure if anyone really knows why maple gets the “birds eye”. Many older guys say it is a disease and that you can’t tell until you start splitting it. I have never heard anyone say they could tell by looking at the bark. I buy mine at East Coast Hardwood in Halifax. It runs about $8/bdft roughly.

Very beautiful , unique piece of furniture… the colors are amazing and what a nice combination of different grains…now aren’t you glad that the Little Woman persisted !!!?
