This is the crossed Pistols for the US Army Military Police. They are Harpers Ferry flintlocks. The carving is about two inches thick and is made from mahogany. It has a clear Hopes tung oil varnish fininsh. As with many relief carvings, it looks a little odd when looking at it up close and right in front of you. It is designed to be viewed at a slight elavation on a wall. I removed the name from the engraved plaque in the photo. This was pretty fun and also rather challenging.

Welcome to LJ’s.
I assume you are located near Ft. LeonardWood, home of the Engineers, Military Police and Chemical Corp.
This is a cool project. I have served in both the Military Police and Engineer Corps. Thanks for your service or support. I took the post as this being something you made on commission. If it is for you and your service then Good Job and Thank You for your Service.
If I recall my MP history correctly the Harpers Ferry Flintlock is also commonly called a Dragoon. Please correct me if need be.
Great work.
