This is a fish tank stand I made myself due to the junk that was available at the local stores. Took me 40? hrs or so. With the majority of the time being set up and clean up as I did all of the work after work in the shop. The cabinet is made of cherry with maple trim to ad a little pop. All of my furniture Ive made for myself is done this way. I used a tongue oil finish in high gloss, I would use a satin finish in the future. The pic of it set up was taken with my iphone I apologize for the poor quality. Id appreciate any ones comments good or bad, thank you in advance.

I love it, especially the shape in the front – not flat and straight across. It’s a great design. One day I may try to make two for myself – I have a 40 gal. breeder and a regular 55 gal., both in the living room, and the ugly shiny pine is an eyesore to me. Yours is a real inspiration!

That’s an excellent cabinet.
Did you make the mouldings yourself?
I recently completed an aquarium cabinet myself because what was on offer here in Australia was rubbish too.

Yes I made all the moldings myself. I believe the top is 3 separate pieces of cherry with1 maple in-between and the bottom is 2 pieces of cherry and 1 maple sandwiched between.
And thank u all for the nice compliments.

Nice work. Did you work off of plans? Where did you get them?

No plans I’ve had enough fish tanks I knew the proper dimensions. As for the style, I had it locked in my head from similar to a project we did for a client.

Nice, I really like the added detail in the ends. I would really like to see a picture from the inside.
I want to redue my 120g stand. This gives me some ideas. Again Really nice.

Sorry, I will attempt to put it a different way.
I have built a few Fish Tank stands. I have always used a 2X4 frame that was then wrapped in what every I chose for the outside.
If you could open the doors, and take a picture of the inside, I would greatly appreciate it.
Again, I must say, I really love the detail.

Actually, If you have any pics from the top looking down (before the tanks was added), it would answer all my questions.
Thanks. And for the inspiration, thanks.
