I’ll admit to being a huge Sam Maloof fan. I’ve taken a crack at building a similar rocker and now have nearly completed a desk chair in the Maloof style. The other 3 parts of the project will be a desk and two cabinet/drawer/shelf units to flank the desk on each side. My primary wood is eastern black walnut and secondary is PA cherry. I like the look of these woods when paired in a project. So have a look at the chair and soon I’ll post a photo of the desk which at this point awaits a design brainstorm for the drawer handles.

Minwax ‘Tung Oil’. 10-15 coats. No wax and no shellac sealer.
Basically the tung on/tung off procedure.
