I decided to turn some drawer pulls and cabinet door knobs many months ago and I finally made some today. They were really fun to make and relatively easy. I’m planning to write a blog about the process as others may find it useful. I generslly followed the process for makiing end-grain knobs recommended by Phil Lowe in an article called Turned Drawer Pulls which appeared in the Sept/Oct 2004 issue of Fine Woodworking. The subtitle of the article is “Making your own knobs is a fast way to add custom details to your furniture projects.” My knobs are very simple, they don’t really add a custom look, but I’m pleased with the result considering it’s my first try and I’m really dreadful at spindle turning.
