Thank you Marc aka THE WOOD WHISPERER. I used this plan to make this for a friend as a small tribute in memory of his mom. The plaque shows her name, date of birth and date of death. I made a bit thicker base, inserted 1/8” of Walnut, then used Walnut keys on the top corners. They contrast nicely with the red oak. I used a little stain to highlight the grain then coated with a light coat of shellac, three coats of wipe on polyurethane, sanding and paste wax. I like the looks of this design, but in all honesty, it is also easier than than Marc’s design requiring the 4 mitered corners, hence the “adaptation”.

What a lucky friend and also how thoughtful of you. OH yes! In thinking of the sentiment I forgot the project. Nice job.

Great job Rick and a very nice tribute, I’m sure your friend is very appreciative. Hope all is well, I for one am looking forward to the time change and the warmer weather.
