This is a walnut tray I made using the CMT router bowl and tray bit. Even though the CMT kit comes with a template for making this tray, I wanted my tray to be a little smaller. So I made my own template as you see in picture 6. I did write a blog about this which shows the entire project from start to finish, including how I made the template.
I made this for my mother as a surprise for her because she has a plastic one which she really likes. And being the woodworker that I am, I wanted to surprise her with a wooden version.
The overall size of the tray is 13” in diameter and 1 1/2” high.
Again, I go into more detail in the blog.

I am off to re-read the blog on how this was made.. I have some fantastic European walnut slab off cuts that this would be absolutely brilliant for… and I have the bowl router bit already… thanks…

Great blog and project.

This one will start the tray series? You already have the template ready for mass production, lol

Take care

Real nice tray. I’m sure your mother is going to love it. When she shows her friends, I think you will be making more. You better keep that template handy.

I really liked you blog on this.
