Just getting back into woodworking after many years of not being able to. Decided to start out with some really simple projects and build Treasure boxes for all the Grand Kids as each has a birthday. Built this one first and have another about finished. Will post it later. This box was given to the 1st grandson a few weeks ago and he loved it. We personalized it with some wood burning, his name and a happy birthday msg from us.

Very cool idea. I think I’ll slip that one into the neat-ideas-that-need-to-be-plagerized folder. ;)

And welcome to the site.

Neat, what kind of wood, sycamore?

Thanks for the welcome. Actually I just used knotty pine then torched it lightly to give the wood some unique color followed by stain and a clear. Came out really nice and the one I’m finishing now is even prettier. I try to do each one different to make them unique.

Very nice. I really like the torched wood. Good job.
