In October I completed these comissioned Memorial Benches for some very dear friends of ours.
They are made with California Redwood and then stained and finished for protection.
The story is: Our friends just recently got married – ” at the age of 90 and 85 respectively”. Each of them lost their loving spouse of many, many years awhile back. They all knew each other for decades and the families got together quite often. One day the gentleman asked the lady friend to go to lunch… and now for the rest of the story ! They continued seeing each other for several months and finally he actually got down on his knee and proposed. They are now the happiest loving couple you could ever wish for.
As I said, they each had a long and wonderful marriage before and loved their previous spouse dearly. They both thought it would be nice to have a memorial bench made in their honor. As luck would have it, they gave me the wonderful honor of doing this for them.
I enjoyed this project very much, it taught me a few new skills and challenges but they came out quite nice. Most importantly, they are thrilled with them.
Thanks for listening, I just thought that this was kinda special…........

Hi Gene;
Wouldn’t you think, at their age, they would know better? Or maybe they did, but they forgot. LOL
Great story, and beautiful job on the bench.

Wonderful benches to go along with a wonderful story. A successful build with beauty and functionality for a very good reason. What more could one ask for? Another job well done!
