Homemade Router table

Just some plywood scraps. Top is a sandwich of two layers of plywood. fence is also homemade. A screw on the outfeed side acts as a pivot, a second one is used when the fence is where I need it. The infeed end is thickened up. I use a dovetail template, screwed to the top, here. the thickened part is to clamp boards to. Router can stay pluged in, a “light switch” controls whether it turns on or not. A 10’ power cord plugs into the wall outlet. Table height is the same as my tablesaw, so I can use the two together for wider stuff.

Who said that a RT should look like a Victorian furniture? The whole point is to do the job that is supposed to.
Well done

can’t say its the purtiest router table on here but looks like it’ll get the job done. but the price was right and that’s what matters these days.

good use of scrap wood.

I dig it !!! you made something that cost you “Zack” like the light switch for on/off !!

As long as it does everything you want, then it’s done it’s job !!

Well done bandit !!!

P.S. i saw a guy on youtube that built a home made table saw ,the top was made from plywood scraps ,
he screwed his circular saw upside down underneath the plywood deck , his ‘missus” controlled the power on & off via the power cord !!! my immediete thought was Ohhh Dear !!!! but it worked !!
he was ripping timber down no probs !!!

my first table say was exactly that… an upside down circular saw mounted to a couple pieces of 1x’s across a couple saw horses with the switch wire-tied in the on position. plug it in and cut! crude but effective. brings back memories. :)

This was built back when Norm Abram was using a little benchtop router table. The light switch connects to an outlet inside the cabinet. I can lock the router in the “ON” position, and then turn it on with the light switch as needed. One of the router templates I use for dovetails is also homemade. A sheet of 3/8 clear plastic “floor protector” one finds under desks. I marked out for 1/2” dovetails, with a 1/2” spacing, cut out slots for the router bushing to follow. Jig gets screwed to the back of drawer fronts, and then gets screwed down on the table to route the drawer sides. The thickened end allows me to clamp most drawer side in place. Doesn’t hurt the table’s top any. Every now, and then, I can just sand the top smooth. That blue panel in the front is an old cabinet door from a kitchen rebuild. Didn’t even change the paint job. Door swings down, to allow for cleaning the cabinet out. The corners of the base have 2×3s (runners from a pallet) that the plywood is screwed to. Takes two people to move it around, but it is nice and solid, and stable.
