This is the 3rd bowl I ever made,

It started out as a very large blank… probably 10” in diameter. Having never worked with a softwood like cherry before I continually took out huge chunks and kept getting tear out. So while my mentor was inside resting I turned a 10” bowl into a 6” bowl trying to smooth it.

He came out, laughed at me, showed me what i was doing wrong, and I still ended up with a very pretty and unique piece.

About 7” tall

Very nice bowl. My mentor said I had to make 50 before I got into hollow vessels so I number all of them!!
