Here’s a couple more pens with boxes. The first one was for a friend who had given me about a three foot stump section of cherry from one of the trees he had sold for veneer logs. The box is a “flip-up” style, that “presents” the pen when opened. It’s made from the cherry he had given me plus a little walnut added for decoration. The pen itself is cherry. The other pen and box was made for my mother for her birthday. It’s made from bird’s eye maple, with camphor burl medallion inlayed with jade recon stone, pink ivory wood, sycamore, and cherry. The pen is camphor burl.

Nice and detailed work. Always nice to have a story and or a relationship with the wood and the people around it.

After having tried inlays a few times and giving up each time, I am always in awe of those who can do them, you seem to have mastered that with the detail on that pen box, outstanding job !! very very nice !!

Just wonderful and beautiful boxes with pens, as said, your inlay work is absolutely pristine, are you thinking of adoption?, it would be great to be related, oh yeah, I’m older than you, lols, just great work Larry, thanks for sharing
