This a queen size bed I made for my son and his fiancee. It is made from oak. The legs are laminated 3/4 stock built up to 2-1/2 by 3”. The recessed panels are oak plywood. To ease the edges of the recessed panels I used a piece of concave molding. The side rails are 3/4×10” solid wood. The bed rails are removable to allow for dismantling when moving. It is stained with 2 coats of ebony stain to give it a rich dark chocolate color. Then it has 3 coats of polyurethane to protect it.

There is no pic of it but there is a matching laundry hamper. The top of the hamper has a hinged lid. The front of the hamper has door to allow for easy removal of the clothes on laundry day. The style and color match the bed.

This is very nice…understated elegance…the great dark stain is great too, just the right touch IMO. This is the place we spend a third of our lives, worth the effort you expended, and I’m sure will be appreciated long term.
Thanks for showing.
PS: Nice orbs on the footboard too! Do they have names? :-)

This looks amazing.

I would really like to build something like this for my wife and I in the near future.

How difficult was it to build? How much time did it take you and cost?

Hey Dan. It looks great.

I’m working on a project with Oak as well and you managed to get just the finish that I’m looking for. Can you tell me what you used for stain?
