This is a hall bench that I built from oak lumber I salvaged from a house fire. The wood was black from smoke and was left sitting outside in the elements for a year before I salvaged it. The wood came out of a 1903 house, and was one inch thick. I was able to plain it down to 3/4” and 1/2” pieces. I used a craftsman style plan. The bench is stained with golden oak and finished with poly.

This is a beautiful project. I strongly believe in giving wood a second life. I’m always pleased to see someone who shares this philosophy.
