Shaker style drop-leaf table in cherry with walnut pegs. The table was my last major project before my family and I moved to Sasebo, Japan. I was very pleased with how it turned out, and more pleased that it made the trek from Virginia to Japan in one piece. I slightly splayed the legs to add stability to the table and help keep the turned legs from looking pigeon toed. The left leaf (in the picture) developed a knot as I thicknessed the board, which I had a first planned on filling, but in the end just knocked it out and left the hole. It ended up adding a element that I liked and my 2 year old daughter liked sticking her finger in it.

Very nicely done. And if it made the trip, then you know it’s solid.

Great work David. I like the trim on the edges where the side panels join.
