Hi All
This is a Art deco inspired jewellery box made from ripple sycamore with Indian rosewood trays and lined in yellow suede. I drew my inspiration for the lid from New York’s Chrysler building and consists of 22 pieces of ripple sycamore veneer laid out in a stepped pattern and the middle pieces are running in a different direction to show of the design. The lid is bordered with black acetal with polyester inlays. The hardware is good quality nickel and it has an ebony and aluminium escutcheon. It will be on display at the Dansel gallery in England.
Cheers Ian

WAW ! Really nice piece of work.
The hardware also looks fantastic … I would like to find some like those in Belgium.

Ian,
A striking piece. Flawlessly executed. The lock escutcheon is a perfect complement. Nice, indeed.

Thanks Guys.
Roger the ring run is one piece of card cut to shape and covered in foam then suede, it is folded together and glued in place – quite hard to explain but works fine.

Wow.
After seeing an example of your computer design skills, at first I thought this was another model. The perfection of your execution almost makes this box look like it could not have been fabricated by human hands.
I’m envious of your skill, Ian.
