My Neighbor Hethe was messing around on the wood lathe and came up with this. The bowl is approx 6” in diameter and stands about 4” tall. It is made from a piece of Cherry and finished with shellac and wax. I will have to make a lid for it. Not really sure what to use it for. Any ideas?

Not sure but it does look cool, I just got a lathe last week and have just started playing on it, first time im my 51 years I have touched a wood lathe. I spent 20 years on a metal lathe but thats a whole different game.

Nice turning,. It gives me an idea!
I think I would use cherry with a light colored band of maybe Maple in it. Laminate a veneer in 2 pieces of cherry
The cherry will naturally darken and the maple will grow in contrast!............just a thought for your lid.

THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
