Here is knife holder for kitchen knives. Typical knife block has slots for blades
but one thing I saw from kitchen utensile store has this kind of box filled with bamboo sticks.
Also some LJs made this type of holder before. Looks good to me, so made one for my wife.
Small block with three slots is attached to the right side of box.
Side block is functioning very well.

Review.
Used this holder for two weeks, and decided to go back to traditional style.
It’s not that good to use. Since there is no fixed space for each knife, as I put more knife,
the space gets tighter and harsh to the blades.

Third pic is for Darmascus steel. Sharpness lasts long and easy to sharpen.
Blade is thinner than average stainless steel knife, so more accurate cut is possible.
That is, less possibility to cut fingers.

Thank you for the review of your knife block. I was wondering if people liked that style, it did not seem too functional to me for the same reasons you found. Thank you!

Yep. when I put one knife, it has too much room, so it drops to the bottom.
And where there are 3 knives, it’s hard to push in the 4th.

Have your say...
