Here is a Bud Vase I made for my wife for Valentines day. (yes it is a little late) She forgives me.

Made from :
Main Body; Mahogany
Design rings; Bubinga and Maple.
Top ring; Bubinga

6 inch diam. at widest. 9 inch tall. 420 pieces.

Vase has an open center hole that allows for the use of a glass insert inside. (pic 3 shows the glass insert)
The rest of the vase is solid. It is HEAVY!! Wanted it to be used for a long stem flower and did not want it to tip over easy. (it won’t) haha

The tallest item I have turned so far, and by FAR the most challenging glue up I have attempted. Got the idea for the design ring from another LJ’s clock face here. Thanks Eddy!

Finish is Tung Oil/Varnish. on the outside. I filled the inside with hand wipe poly and let it soak in for about an hour, then drained the extra. Soaked in pretty good, so should be water resistant inside in case of spill when filling.

Please leave all comments and suggestions. I am all ways looking to improve.

Thank You for looking.
Scrappy

Very nice. I have only finished 2 segmented bowl, and they are nothing like what you have made. The segmenting looks great! Thanks for showing.

Hey Scrappy
Now you really messed up.
I thought the other segmented vase you made was the best you could do. But this one might be better. Or maybe not. But if it is or if it’s not. It’s Beautiful.

Nice design Scrappy! I also like the idea of a heavier base – for stability and less hollowing. Thanks for sharing.

I like the feature-ring. This is a hard one to do. You’ve done it very good. Shapes are a very personal subject. I would have loved to see that the bottom part was a bit longer but that’s just me.

I’m looking forward to the next one
