The main thing I want to show is the beautiful cane made by Meilie (mmh) for me as an experimental product. She needed someone pretty hefty to to try it out on, and I sure fit that bill.
In response to such a wonderful, beautiful gift I made Meilie this standard walnut bowl. I did try to do my best on the bowl, which cannot hold a candle to her beautiful work. She has her own business and I highly recommend you visit her website to see her beautiful work, which is not just canes. Thank you again Meilie. Like you said, since I lost the tip of a finger, I could consider myself a wounded Vet. I believe she makes canes for disabled Veterans. What a beautiful human being. God Bless, mike

Hey, I am a newbie woodworker in Central Oregon and last year made about 30 walking/hiking sticks from Juniper limbs. What I need is a good handle for me to make the walking sticks viable for seniors and disabled folks in my church. I have a friend that has a nice shop and the tool to make a model of a handle. Can you put me in touch with the person that made your cane so I could communicate with them and get some ideas?

The person that made Mike’s cane is MMH Also if you do a search for “Cane” in the search box, you will find several Lumberjocks that make canes. I’ll bet that any one of them will be happy to offer advice.

Good luck and welcome to our community.,

I sure can….. You could email Melie (mmh) at www.bigstickcanes.com. She made this beauty, but you should see the assortment and High End canes she makes out of exotic woods. I’m sure she would be glad to answer your questions. She’s a Lumberjill you know? One heck of a gal. mike…ps, thanks Bill I guess I didn’t think of that. Another Jock that may help you that also made me a beautiful cane is Mark DeCou.

I would say you both came out ahead! That’s a great cane and a very nice bowl. I would be proud to claim either as my work!

Beautiful cane by MMH (I can appreciate a good cane at my age) and a beautiful bowl by you Mike. MMH can have a salad while you take a walk, lol.
