Nana had a birthday coming up, and after seeing all the smiling faces of kids who had made projects on LJ, I thought it was time to do the same. My son (age 11) and daughter (age 7) joined me in the shop to make a garden tote for grandma. I sketched out the plan, but they did all the marking, cutting, drilling and screwing to put it together. In not very much time at all they went from a pile of plywood cutoffs to a present for grandma, and I think they were very impressed with how much they accomplished. I certainly am proud of them.

Here’s the photo of my son after giving it to Nana (my daughter had already gone to bed when we remembered to take the picture. Shame on me!). Next time I’ll have to remember to take some ‘work in progress’ photos…

Thanks LJ’ers for the inspiration!

So well done, nothing like a well made tool tote, yeas perhaps a wonderful grand mother, ohh yes and to wonderful kids that make presents like that.

Looks like they did a great job. Hope there are more projects in their future.

That’s one lucky Grandma.

great to see!
I am sure Nana will cherish this one for a long time – just because of who made it.

Now there is a gift she will remember. Keep working in wood so all you build will be a gift. Thanks for sharing.
