Our home office had some cheap desks made of particle board and we had some shelves on the other side of the office hung with brackets and a folding table. The project goal was to make cabinets to replace the shelves and folding table and to replace the cheap desks with custom desks that were nicer, taller and wider top. Here are the pictures of the (almost) finished product. I still need to make a shelf unit to replace the ugly one on the one desk, an organizer shelf for the phone, router, cable modem and a drawer unit to fit under the one desk in the third picture (to the right of where the computer is, in that empty space).

Nice job. Lots of working space there. I feel your pain. I’ve been working off of plastic fold-out tables for a few years now. This is definitely one of those projects on my list to do as soon as I get the time. I’d add to your to-do list some cable management. Getting all those wires off the walls & floors would really put the finishing touches on it. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, cable management is definitely going to be done. My wife was getting jittery (too many hours without internet access) and I needed to get everything connected quickly. I’ll clean everything up when I mount the boxes that will hold the computers up off the floor and the make the organizer for the phone, modem, router.

Have your say...
