One of my customers was looking for something very personalized for their fireplace. We worked together and after several iterations, we came up with the mantle with a ranch scene which fit right into their interests. It was a fun project and the customer is thrilled.

I can’t imagine doing that kind of carving in a timely manner without a CNC router. Wow.

I actually did a mantle once a little like this but hand carved. The difference to the customer is price. The hand carved version was over $10K. This version (looks almost the same as the hand carved) is around $1500. I’m trying to make personalization more affordable for people.

What type of CNC and sofware are you using?

George, I use a Shopbot PRSAlpha 60×96 CNC. For software I use Vectric Aspire for 3D work, eCabinets for cabinetry work and TurboCAD for some CAD design work. I can output file formats from TurboCAD that I can import into Aspire for some complex things that Aspire can’t do.
