where do you get kits like this from? the only silver letter openers ive seen are ones that you just push a flat bit into the hole in your handle not like these

I got my kits from either Penn State Industries or Woodcraft. They are called Euro or Designer style kits.

do the Designer style kits turn up on a normal pen modual with the normal bushes??

for a designer/euro pen, there are designer/euro bushings. Some require doing a tenon and others don’t when you turn the pen. Some also use just a 7mm drill bit while others use an 8mm. You just have to read the spec description to see what bit is required. I have only turned the 7mm pen only. The pen and letter opener required a tenon, while the pencil did not. I think you can get kits for all three though that do not need a tenon.
