Marblewood Wine Bottle Stoppers

Here are some wine bottle stoppers that I made for Christmas gifts. The stoppers are screwed onto a mandrel held in the lathe. Once completed, the metal portion of the stopper is screwed into the wooden handle. I added a dab of glue to the threads so they wouldn’t unscrew.

I experimented with different profiles and did all the turning freehand (no templates). The wood is marblewood. The finish is a wax finish that I applied while the lathe was running.

I like those. The pictures are kind of dark, but the wood looks nice. Everyone is making them shorter than I do; I’m thinking to cut mine down, as they probably look better in a bottle.
