Weight Tree

It is time for that ever popular new year promise that I will be more active, so in an effort to make the handweights more available I built the weight tree. Now the weights are somewhat decorative and sit in the living room next to the TV. You guessed it I can now admire the fine art as I watch TV! The stand is made of Mahognany, which sits on a base of scrap oak, there is a swivel thing under so it can spin to easily remove or return the weight. The top is some scrap lacewood, framing a tile I picked up at the Crested Bujtte Wildflower Festival, I originally framed it as a trivet but the tile has some type of plastic like coating, so decided to use it here instead.

Nothing better than looking at a great project and not feel bad about not doing something else.

Nice design.

Great idea and good execuion of that design. Maybe I can make one of these for my wife for her weights.
Nice splines on the miter. Did you seal the mahogany before finishing? It sure looks smooth.

Nice use of the trivet, too. Nice reminder of Crested Butte! Gotta love that Colorado High Country!

God Bless,
Hawg (Originally from Colorado, too)
