Fire wood box I made today for my Step son and his wife for their anniversary gift. Box is made out of recycled wood paneling that I demo’ed from our laundry room project, more specifically the closet door (pic included). Hinges and handle are from the kitchen cabinets, when I replaced them. Only item not from the recycled wood is the plywood bottom (still left over from the laundry room remodel). I had an idea in my head and just ran with it, no plan. It has 2 compartments, top one is to store matches and starter materials.
Now let me explain the back ground and history significant’s to using this wood. His father who originally built and installed it in the room, passed away when he was 15 from a Heart Attack, that was more than 15 yrs ago. He has been more of a friend then a son to me for 10 yrs and I’m the one who taught him the benefits of burning wood to heat the house, so, I thought this would be a fitting gift from me.
