Built table for office out of Lacewood, There were two distinct colors to the wood I chose. Built a table rather than a desk as the walls are surrounded with shelves and wanted two people to be able to use at one time. The lacewood was a challenge, I never had so many slivers! There were several firsts for me here – first time I worked any wood but oak or pine, first attempt at breadboard ends including the square pegs on the ends. i designed the through tennon so it would sit flat and parallel to the table, although I like the way it looks it has proven less than sturdy. As the table is being used as a desk and takes much abuse, i used several coats of wipe on poly for the finish. And before anyone asks I did build the barrister bookcases in the background – over 20 years ago from a Yield House kit. i think it might be what started me down the path of woodworking:)

Very nice! I really like the contrasting woods and the frame-like border on the table top.

Nice job. I love the wood you chose. There’s not many tables made of lacewood. It really looks beautiful in a large scale project like that.
